Flamingo Bay Residential Resort

Overview

Flamingo Bay is a residential resort of 34 apartments and townhouses near the Larnaca Salt Lake, conceived as a small neighbourhood rather than a single block. The programme is broken into house-sized volumes set on a loose grid, so the spaces between them become lanes, porches, stairs and shaded courtyards, and breeze and daylight reach every ground floor.

‍

At the heart of the plan, a long planted courtyard holds a ribbon-shaped pool that reads as part of the garden, and every home looks onto it. Existing cypress trees anchor the landscape, and each two-storey building is crowned with a roof garden. A gym and spa complete the shared amenities, with covered parking below ground.

‍

For this project, we sought a local sense of place rooted in the quiet traditions of Cypriot architecture. A palette of four materials, sand-lime render, dry-stone walls, oiled timber shutters and honed travertine, keeps the architecture calm and lets the landscape lead.
