Arch House Hair Salon & Apartment
Arch House is a mixed-use building in Dali, Nicosia, with a hair salon at street level and apartments on the floors above. The design takes the arch, one of the most familiar elements of Cypriot architecture, and makes it the building’s signature. Tall arched openings frame the salon frontage, and a row of arched windows runs along the upper floor, set in white render with natural stone, timber screens and shaded balconies.
Inside, the arch carries through into windows, mirrors and details, reintroduced in a modern way through material and light. In the salon, open shelving separates the different areas while keeping them connected, a sculptural LED light adds a contemporary accent, and a staircase with concealed warm lighting becomes a feature in its own right. A calm base of natural materials sets the stage for mid-century modern furniture in leather and natural wood.
For this project, we sought to revisit local architectural elements with a contemporary eye, bringing Cypriot tradition and a minimal modern language together in a place that feels both familiar and new.
